We are honored and blessed to be joined by Monsignor Charles Mangan, as our guide on our journey. Monsignor lived in Rome and worked at the Vatican for 12 years. It will be a great joy to hear his narration along the way. He also has been to Fatima previously.

About Monsignor Mangan:

Msgr. Charles M. Mangan is a priest of the Diocese of Sioux Falls. He was ordained in June 1989 by Bishop Paul V. Dudley, D.D., and has served as parochial vicar, pastor, Vice Chancellor and Defender of the Bond. He studied Canon Law and Mariology in Rome and worked in the Vatican Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life. Currently, he is the Director of the Office of the Marian Apostolate in the Diocese of Sioux Falls, the Vicar for Consecrated Life and the Canonical Adviser to Bishop Paul J. Swain. Msgr. Mangan was commissioned by Pope Francis as a “Missionary of Mercy” during the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy.

This tour will require a great amount of walking.

This tour includes: airfare, lodging, breakfast every morning, 2 dinners, and lunch in Assisi, all entrance fees and tickets, any taxes and transfers. You will also be given a wireless headset so you may hear all narrations and be able to ask questions. These will need to be returned at the end of the tour.

Day 1 Sept. 5.

We board our overnight flight for Lisbon, Portugal. We board in Sioux Falls with stops in Chicago and Washington, DC. Other departing cities may be arranged.

Day 2. Sept. 6.

We land in Lisbon and are met by our motor coach and our step on guide. We will have a narrated tour of Lisbon and lunch on our way to our hotel. You will then have free time until we gather for our group welcoming dinner.

Day 3 Sept. 7.

After our breakfast at the hotel, we will board our motor coach for Fatima.
This is the 100th anniversary of the appearance of the Virgin Mary. We will visit the Shrine and museums. We will spend the entire day there.

Day 4 Sept. 8.

You have the whole day to yourself. Explore Lisbon, take the train back to Fatima or just relax. The choices are plenty.

Day 5 Sept 9.

We say good bye to Portugal and fly to Rome. We are met by our motor coach and head to the Roman Forum and the Coliseum. We check into our hotel and home for the next 7 nights. The Crowne Plaza Rome.

Day 6 Sept 10.

After breakfast we head to Sunday Mass at St Peter's Basilica. After mass we join in the square for the Angelus, watch for Pope Francis to make an appearance. We tour the Sistine Chapel, revisit the Basilica, walk the gardens, and visit the Vatican museum. You can do a more in depth tour and visiting on another day soon.

Day 7 Sept 11.

Our journey today takes us to the Imperial Forums, the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, and Villa Borghese.

Day 8 Sept. 12

Today we visit the Victor Emmanuel Monument, Capitals Hill, Circus Maximus, the Pyramid of Caius Cestius, and the Baths of Caracalla.

Day 9 Sept 13

We return to the Vatican today with tickets for the Papal Audience. Afterwards you are on your own to explore the Vatican more in depth.

Day 10 Sept 14

Today is your day. Take a break, or a day trip, or just explore more of Rome. The choice is yours.

Day 11 Sept 15

We embark on a day trip to Assisi. We finish our day with a final group dinner.

Day 12 Sept 16

Our journey begins to wind down as we board our flight back home. We have seen some great sights, made some new friends, and have awesome memories to share with family and friends when we return.
